As every year since 2011, Lille Design, an organization which aims to develop and promote design, is setting up the Design Residence, a creation meeting to help the public space evolve. Art Point M / La Braderie de l'Art which promotes design from reclaimed objects and materials is associated with the project in partnership with Mad Brussels, Pangee Design, Eaux du Nord and the Ecole Supérieure d'Art de Tourcoing.
The city is changing and design works to innovate according to this perpetual evolution. Water is vital for humans, it is everywhere and meets many needs. Participants have to create an original project that features water in the city. From fountains to manholes, from domestic use to technology, prototypes of objects or fittings will then be designed using recycled materials.
Designers interested in the challenge must submit their pre-project by September 30. On October 4, 5 applications will be selected by the jury chaired by Marc Bretillot, designer and visual artist. The prototypes will be created during 5 days of residence at ESA Tourcoing before being exhibited and submitted to the public vote at the Braderie de l'Art which will be held in Roubaix on December 7 and 8. The designers will participate in a second phase of creation at the Fashion and Design Center (MAD) in Brussels in early 2014. At the end of this last stage, the Lille design prize will be awarded to the big winner with an endowment of 3000 euros. The marathon along the water starts now!
