New standards for dishwashers and computers
In June 2013, the European Commission adopted new harmonized European standards applicable to household dishwashers as well as new ecodesign regulatory requirements applicable to computers and computer servers.
The Commission has adopted a Communication which introduces new harmonized European standards covering ecodesign requirements for household dishwashers.
These standards were adopted within the framework of the implementation of regulation n ° 1016/2010 implementing directive 2009/125 / CE with regard to ecodesign requirements applicable to household dishwashers and of delegated regulation nr. ° 1059/2010 supplementing Directive 2010/30 / EU with regard to the indication, by means of labeling, of the energy consumption of household dishwashers.
For computers / computer servers
Commission Regulation 617/2013 establishes ecodesign requirements for placing computers and computer servers on the market.
It applies to the following products that can be powered directly from AC mains power, including through internal or external power source: desktop computers, integrated desktops, laptops, thin clients desktop, mobile workstations, small servers, computer servers.
It does not apply to the following product groups: blade-type systems and components, single-function servers, multi-node servers, computer servers with more than four processor sockets, game consoles, docking stations.
The applicable ecodesign requirements are set out in Annex II of the Regulation. They relate to the following aspects: total annual energy consumption, standby mode, minimum consumption state, shutdown mode, efficiency of the internal power source, activation of the electricity consumption management function, information to be provided by manufacturers. Most of these requirements will apply from July 1, 2014, the others from January 1, 2016.
